I’ve waited a long time to try audio books because I just wasn’t sure I would be able to listen to one and not miss anything. Also, there is just something about actually reading a book and I felt that by listening to an audio book I was going to be cheating myself of being able to enter the fantasy land that is a book. I am visiting my parents this weekend and it’s a 4 hour drive one way so I decided to finally give an audio book a try.
I decided to do the audible free trial to get a free audio book and see if I like them. I went with Paper Towns by John Green. I just recently read my first John Green novel and instantly fell in love with his writing style. You can see my review for Looking for Alaska here.
I’ve only listened to about half of the book so far and I must say that I am delighted with it! I was completely wrong about audio books. Not only can I connect with the characters but hearing it in someone else’s voice allows me to feel like I am right there with them. As I head back to my home on Sunday I will be listening to the remainder of Paper Towns so look for my review on Monday.
What was your first experience with audio books like? Have you tried them? Or are you like me and scared to try them? I’d love to hear about your experience in the comments.
