As you may have noticed lately, I haven’t been posting very much and I’m really behind on some of my reviews. This is because I am currently 11 weeks pregnant. The morning sickness has been pretty bad since week 5. It has made it almost impossible for me to read at the pace I had been reading at earlier in the year. Right now I’m lucky if I can make it through a book a week. On top of the nausea, I have been extremely tired and most nights I am in the bed by 8 pm.

I’m hoping that since I’m almost out of the first trimester I will be able to resume my reading schedule but that is something that has taken a back seat and probably will for the remainder of this pregnancy. This is my first child and I’m super excited. I can’t wait for December to meet my little one!

I hope you all bear with me as I adjust to being pregnant and becoming a mother. Also, I am sure I will post updates as time gets closer to my due date!

Sky High by C.J. Lake #BookBlitz

Sky High by C.J. Lake

The Attraction #3
Publication date: May 2015
Genres: New Adult, Romance

**All books in C.J. Lake’s Attraction Series are standalone novels with NO cliffhangers.**

First she stole my parking spot.  Then we became friends.  Then I fell completely, mind-torturingly in love with her.  Oh, wait—I think that happened first.

Sky High by C.J. Lake – coming in May!

C.J. Lake is a storyteller who is passionate about art, surfing, and skiing/snowboarding. Residing near the coast of Massachusetts, C.J. is currently working on a new book. Readers can get in touch via email ( or follow C.J. on Twitter @brightbluesurf.

Q&A with C.J. Lake

What makes Jamie and Sky such a great couple?

When the story begins, Sky is in a tough transition, finally coming to terms with the fact that her ski career is over after it had only just begun—and that she has to figure out what’s next.  She has become somewhat negative and cynical, but when Jamie comes along with his easygoing, funny personality, he inevitably brings a positive energy to Sky’s life.

If you had to choose, what is your favorite scene?
Sky and Jamie have a confrontation about their whole “friendship” and what’s really been happening below the surface.  It’s a pretty intense, sexy scene and I love that whole moment between them!

Do you have a music playlist for this book?
Yes!  My #1 Jamie-Sky inspiration song is “Afterlife” by Ingrid Michaelson—but there are so many fun, romantic songs that remind me of their love!  Like: “Want to Want Me” (Jason Derulo), “Sugar” (Maroon 5), “Boom Clap” (Charli XCX), “Riptide” (Vance Joy), “Classic” (MKTO), “Love Me Like You Do” (Ellie Goulding), and “Unconditional” (Katy Perry).

What are your must-haves while writing?
I’d like to say good lighting and espresso—but truthfully, I’ll write even when I’m out of espresso.  Still…good lighting is a must and I will pretty happily settle for regular coffee.

What else should readers know?
Sky High is the third book in The Attraction Series.  Like the other books in the series, Sky Highis a standalone novel—although characters from Constructing Us (Book 1) and A Hot Winter (Book 2) also appear, so readers can see how they’re doing!  I had a lot of fun with this book, because Jamie is one-of-a-kind and I hope I captured that.

What’s next?
Coming up are Parts 2 & 3 of The Allnighter (My New Stepbrother).  I recently released Part 1, which you can check out here:  Mick and Cady would be perfect together…if only the timing and circumstances weren’t so imperfect!  The rest of their sexy and at times funny love story is coming soon…

Also, Let it Burn (Book 4 in the Attraction Series), is coming in 2016!

Hooked by Christine Manzari #Review

Hooked by Christine Manzari
Publication date: February 3rd 2015

Genres: Contemporary, New Adult, Romance

If you ask the confident and snarky skater girl, and she’s in the mood to share, she’ll tell you her name is Cat. She might even tell you that she’s hooked on graffiti, 80s movies, and having fun—the riskier the better. Cat will share a good time with you, but she won’t ever trust you enough to share her heart. It’s protected by secrets and she’d like to keep it that way.

Cat knows one thing for certain: Love isn’t really her thing.

If you ask the confident and rich pretty boy, he might tell you his name is Huck. He might even tell you he loves a challenge and is used to getting his way. He won’t tell you that his life is a mess because he risked his heart by trusting the wrong girl. Huck is ready for a change, he just wasn’t ready to get hooked on someone like Cat.

Huck knows one thing for certain: Love hasn’t done him any favors, but Cat just might be worth the risk.

Cat and Huck think a one-night stand seems harmless, but when all the little secrets they didn’t share turn out to be toxic truths, they realize how easily a one-night stand (or a few) could ruin everything.

The thing is, you can be ruined in more than one way. Once you’re HOOKED, what wouldn’t you risk for the chance at more?

I received a copy of this ARC for free from Xpresso Book Tours in exchange for an honest review.

Hooked is a very fitting title since I was “hooked” from page one. The characters are so real and easy to relate to. Cat grew up with an alcoholic father which makes it hard for her to trust anyone. She has all these rules when it comes to relationships. Huck is a determined, hardworking pretty boy who refuses to give up. Their chemistry is instant. Cat and Huck think a one night stand will be enough for them but it just might be enough to ruin them.
Cat is snarky and I love it! She has just enough sass to keep you entertained. I would highly recommend Hooked to anyone who likes a fast-paced read containing humor and a sprinkle of steamy scenes.

What the mind forgets, the heart remembers.
Alone in a train station bathroom, Sophia Hernandez has no memory of who she is or how she got there. All she’s certain of are three things: her college ID is a lie, bad people are coming for her, and no one can be trusted.
The only clue to her past is the fellow student who finds her. Although Sophia’s gut tells her Kyle is lying when he claims he can’t help her, his touch makes her heart race. Is it because of a red-hot natural attraction, or a missing memory of something far more dangerous?
As two mysterious, menacing men chase them from the station, Sophia’s memories return in frustrating fragments. So do deadly skills she didn’t know she had. In the next forty-eight hours, a loved one’s life will be on the line as she sifts through a mounting tangle of secrets and lies.
Including the most heart-wrenching secret of all. Not only isn’t she a normal college student, she isn’t even a normal human.
Warning: Contains one girl who is more than she seems, one boy who knows more than he’s telling, and enough twists to give you whiplash. Expect explosions of all kinds.

Tracey Martin grew up outside of Philadelphia, the lucky recipient of a drama-free childhood, which is why she spent so much time reading about other people’s lives. It was while she was working on her doctorate in psychology that she had an epiphany–imaginary people are way more fun than real ones. And so she began writing. Never able to choose just one of anything, she currently writes both urban fantasy for adults and contemporary stories for teens.

She likes her coffee simple, her music epic, and her movies to contain explosions. A city girl at heart, she doesn’t understand how she and her husband ended up living in New Hampshire, but writing keeps her off the mean, small town streets. You can find her online at

This is a very interesting book. It’s told in first person point of view present tense which is not something everyone likes but for this story it really works. You find out things about Sophia as she does. Sophia wakes up not knowing who she is and that would be really scary.

There were flashbacks in the book but they weren’t always distinguishable which was confusing. There is a slight romance involved in this book but I felt that it didn’t take away from the story and actually added to it. The warning in the synopsis was very accurate and you will have a whiplash of sorts. I can’t wait to read more of this series.

The Day Of The Wave by Becky Wicks Blog Tour #Review

The Day Of The Wave by Becky Wicks

Publication date: May 1st 2015

Genres: Adult, Romance

Isla and Ben were just sixteen when the Boxing Day tsunami tore through their beach resort in Thailand. Just days after forming a life-changing bond, both were missing and presumed dead. Unbeknown to each other and haunted by one of the biggest natural disasters in world history, Isla and Ben are living very different lives, until over a decade later when a chance encounter throws them back together.

Based on real life events, The Day of the Wave is a story of healing, learning to let go, and figuring out when to hold on with everything you have left.

Becky Wicks lives in Bali and scribbles books, and she’s mostly powered by coffee. Her first book in the Starstruck Series, Before He Was Famous recently reached #1 in Amazon’s Coming of Age and New Adult & College categories, and her three travel books, published by HarperCollins are online to make feet nice and itchy. Mostly though, she loves to write love stories. She blogs most days at and always welcomes distractions on Twitter @bex_wicks. Especially if you have photos of cats.

The Day of the Wave is an inspiring, uplifting story about survival. Ben and Izzy were 16 when the Boxing Day Tsunami hit Thailand and changed their lives forever. They lost each other and other loved ones as well.

Over a decade later, Izzy is living in London while Ben has returned to Thailand to help the other survivors rebuild and revive his uncle’s shop. A chance encounter puts Izzy and Ben back in each other’s lives.

The characters in this story are well developed and easy to relate to. The way the author describes Thailand makes it easy to get lost in the beauty and tragedy of the Tsunami. I love books that take actual events from history and put fictional characters there to tell the story.

Vibrizzio by Nicki Elson Blog Tour #Review

Vibrizzio by Nicki Elson
Published by: Swoon Romance
Publication date: April 21st 2015
Genres: Adult, Contemporary, Romance

Lyssa Bates doesn’t need a man. Not when the world is fully-stocked with double A batteries and a wide array of options in Amazon’s health and sexual wellness category. After yet another failed relationship, the twenty-six-year-old investment analyst is convinced that real guys aren’t ever going to live up to her expectations—so why should she bother with them? She’s determined to keep her dating life purely electronic…though she occasionally fantasizes about Hayden King, the delicious new associate she just got partnered with at work.
While Lyssa manages her romantic risks by deleting men from of the equation, the ever-charming Hayden protects his heart by diversifying his love life across multiple women. As the two young professionals travel together around the country for business, their flirty working relationship develops into a close friendship that hurtles toward something more. Between hot tub confessions in Baltimore, an accidental kiss in Dallas, and an all-nighter in Chicago, Hayden proves himself to be better than any fantasy.
Writing wasn’t something Nicki set out to do; it just sort of happened when she realized writing reports was by far her favorite part of her investment consulting position. She traded stock allocation and diversification for story arcs and dialogue and now weaves her creative writing time in with the other activities of her busy life with her family in the Chicago suburbs.

Nicki writes with two goals in mind: #1 to keep the characters realistic, even when their circumstances are anything but, and #2 to make the reader feel. Watch for her new title Vibrizzio, coming in 2015 from Swoon Romance. Her published works include Three Daves, a light-hearted romantic romp through a 1980s college campus, Divine Temptation, a romantic novel of angelic proportions, and Hans & Greta: a Twisted Fairy Tale Novella. Her published short stories include “Sway” (available as a single), “I Don’t Do Valentine’s Day” (part of A Valentine Anthology), and “Impressionism 101” (included in the debut issue of Insatiable: The Magazine of Paranormal Desire

Lyssa is an investment analyst whose boyfriend is a skinny nerd named Keith. Keith buys her a vibrator to spice up their sex life, but when Lyssa really enjoys the vibrator, Keith gets insanely jealous and makes her choose between him and “it”. Lyssa nicknames the vibrator, Vibrizzio, and decides she doesn’t need a man to be happy when she can get all the pleasure she needs from a piece of plastic.

Lyssa is put on a special project at work, called Project Pineapple, and partnered up with a hottie named Hayden. He is curious about Lyssa but she can’t figure out why. Hayden finds out about Vibrizzio in an unfortunate incident at the airport and teases Lyssa about it.

Hayden tends to try to protect his heart by basically playing the field and being with many different women. This doesn’t sit well with Lyssa and she lets Hayden know it after one of his trysts. When the opportunity arises for Hayden to date Lyssa’s friend Trish, Lyssa tries her best to be okay with it and Hayden knows this.

There is so much witty banter between the characters in this book! I love it! The characters were very well developed and I could see them being real people. Lyssa’s family is very similar to a couple of families that I know.

At first, I was a little iffy about Lyssa wanting to quit men for a vibrator, but the more I thought about it, the more I could see where she was coming from. Also, for a man to be so jealous of a vibrator as to give an ultimatum like that, I would be done with men too.

If you’re looking for a sexy, funny read, I would highly recommend Vibrizzio.

Cupcakes and Crushes by Keri Ford #Review

Cupcakes and Crushes by Keri Ford
Turtle Pine #1
Publisher: Samhain Publishing
Publication Date: April 14, 2015
Genre: Romance

Sometimes there is enough sweet to make up for the bitter.
Turtle Pine, Book 1

Years ago, a broken heart sent Annie Cookie running from home, and she’s never looked back—until now. Her grandpa’s broken wrist means the family bakery is at risk of losing two big orders. Reluctantly, Annie returns to Turtle Pine to help out, only to discover it’s not just seven hundred cupcakes she has to bake, but also a wedding cake for the half-sister who stole her high-school sweetheart. Annie left town to get away from her sister. No way is she getting mixed up with her again. Once the cupcakes are done, she’s outta there.

Back in high school, Cade Revlin hid his crush on his brother’s girl, but when his brother dumped Annie for another Cookie sister, Annie slipped through his fingers and out of town. Now that she’s back, he’s determined to give her a reason to stay. He’s got one week to change her mind. Or she’ll be gone in a cloud of powdered sugar.

Warning: Contains small-town meddling, family drama and all the necessary ingredients for a second chance at love—if they have the guts to turn up the heat.
I received this ARC for free in exchange for an honest review.

If you want to read a sweet love story about second chances, then this is the book for you. Annie left Turtle Pine the first chance she got and never looked back. When her grandpa breaks his wrist and asks for her help with an order for 700 cupcakes and her half-sister’s wedding cake, Annie can’t refuse and returns home. However, she has no intentions of making Jane’s wedding cake since they are not on good terms. Jane stole Annie’s high school boyfriend and there are a lot of unresolved issues between them.

Annie never expects to run into Cade, who happens to be the brother of her high school boyfriend. Cade has had a crush on Annie since high school and he’s not going to let her get away again. But Annie is only in town for one week. Is that enough time to change her mind and get her to move back to Turtle Pine?

Parts of the story were a little slow but overall it was really good. The characters were well developed. I can’t wait to revisit Turtle Pine in more books.
