He was her first love, and she’s always owned a piece of his heart.

When Laney skipped town to follow her dreams, Kyle didn’t go with her. Twelve years later, she runs into him at Christmastime – and a flame that was extinguished long ago suddenly reignites.

Lanie has never gotten over her ex, Kyle, to the point where she feels like she can’t love again. Kyle finally realizes that it was his fault they broke up and not Lanie’s like he thought for several years. So when Lanie comes back to town for the holidays, Kyle is determined to win her back. Lanie is determined for this to just be a fling.

What Once Was Perfect is an excellent story. It’s short but is filled with so much that you literally feel like your heart was stomped on. Zoe York is an excellent writer. I loved the characters and the story.

I think Rebecca Roberts was the perfect person to narrate this story. Her voice just captivated me and made me want to continue listening. I thought she did an excellent job of capturing the tones that needed to be used and when.
