In the span of seven days, Annabel Lee will lose her heart.
Kennedy Harrison, as reckless with life as Annabel is obsessed with order, never could commit to anything—not to a person, not to a job, not to a path. But he’s got a history with Annabel, and for once Kennedy doesn’t want to run. Determined to spend time with her before she leaves for college, Kennedy dares her to join him on a road trip to a music festival.
And neither of them could ever say no to a dare.
But Annabel’s got a plan. She’ll complete seven dares in seven days—if Kennedy applies for one writing internship per dare. Because Kennedy needs to be pushed just as much as she does.
What follows is a dizzying week of music, shady hotels, comical dares, and a passion neither one knew existed. But when it ends, Annabel and Kennedy will realize the biggest dare of all might just be falling for each other.
I’d like to first start off by thanking you for hosting me today! It’s so exciting to be here to talk about my first New Adult book, SEVEN WAYS TO LOSE YOUR HEART.
- Why did you decide to become an author?
I’ve always loved to write. From writing horror stories with my friends in middle school to writing scripts for movies in high school, I loved the idea of creating something. It wasn’t until about seven years ago that I thought…let’s just try this thing for reals. Three years after sitting down and drafting my first novel, I saw Chosen Ones sitting on a shelf at Barnes and Noble. Reading was so important to me growing up, and it’s nice to be able to contribute to the art form.
- What do you like to do when you aren’t writing?
I have quite the adventurer spirit these days. I’m pretty much up for trying anything. Whether it’s zip lining with friends or attending a Cubs game, I’m down. I enjoy a good winery or brewery tour, and I like to punish myself by running multiple races a year. Of course, I’m always up for a concert or music festival. And then there is my one true love—Netflix….somehow, I managed to make this sound like a Match.com profile.
- What inspired you to write Seven Ways to Lose Your Heart?
About four years ago, I went to my first music festival. Three days of sweaty dancing, mud fights, and losing all of my friends in the massive crowds, and I was hooked. I’ve been to quite a few since, and this book is dedicated to all the wonderful people I met there.
- What’s up next for you?
I have a few things out on submission, including another New Adult book with a Christmas theme. If Seven Ways to Lose Your Heart is about my wild fest days, this project would pay homage to all my nerdiness (cue many Star Wars references)…cause even nerds need love!
