Length: 6 hours and 42 minutes
Format: Audiobook

A sexy romantic comedy standalone in the Modern Love series.

Who knew sleeping with the enemy could be this fun?

Was the one night stand a good idea?

Well, no. Probably not in retrospect.

In my defense, I had just moved back into my grandparents' house, I'd lost my dream job, and a guy on Tinder had stood me up. It was like life had suddenly stamped 'loser' on my forehead.

So when the guy behind the bar started giving me the know, the one that promised I'd be screaming his name into the wee hours of the morning? When that guy also has the perfect amount of scruff on his chiseled chin, biceps bulging out of his t-shirt, and a cocky grin you knew he'd earned in the sack...when he gives you that look, you don't bother to figure out what your six degrees of separation are. You jump on that horse and ride it!

Pun fully and completely intended. And accurate, by the way.

I fully admit to feeling sorry for myself and acting impulsively, but by the time I'd figured out who the bartender was, I was already falling for him.

I love all of Piper Rayne’s books so much and I was ecstatic when I learned they were releasing an audio version of The Bartender. I didn’t think the book could get any better but I was blown away by how much I loved listening to this book.

Molly Mermelstein brought such life to these characters and I don’t think anyone could have done it better. She truly encompassed the essence of this story and delivered it wrapped up with a nice bow on top with the emotion and voices she brought to the table.

I can’t wait to hear the rest of the Modern Love series!!

About the Books:

The Attraction Equation

FBI agent Max Carter lives his life by a strict set of rules—rules that don’t allow for distraction, deviation…or a relationship. But tell that to his matchmaking mama. To avoid yet another set-up, he announces he has a girlfriend. And now has to produce said girlfriend at Christmas dinner. Maybe Santa has a suitable actress in that red bag of his…

Gina Castillo is about to break her building’s iron-clad “no pets” policy to give her little brother the perfect Christmas gift—a dog. Too bad Max, the most inconveniently sexy tenant in the building, catches her red handed. Gina expects to be evicted, but instead finds herself blackmailed into playing the role of his girlfriend.

Two lies plus one dog should equal a hot mess of a holiday, but attraction and Christmas magic might just defy the rules…

The Attraction Equation is such a cute fun read. Max is super strict about rules while Gina is a rule breaker. They meet when Gina is sneaking around trying to hide a dog that breaks her building’s “no pet” policy. Max needs a pretend girlfriend to keep his family from trying to set him up so he blackmails Gina into being that girl.

I loved that these characters are complete total opposites. On the surface it doesn’t seem like they would necessarily go together but I think that’s what makes it work. Gina is fun and flighty while Max is a no nonsense FBI agent. He is super quirky and Gina accepts all of his quirks.

I really enjoyed this story and can’t wait to read more from this author!

Trouble Next Door

McKenna Prescott is the queen of picking the wrong men. When her latest boyfriend dumps her, she decides to devote her time to “exploring herself” (read: drinking wine and ordering sex toys online) and starting her freelance makeup business. That is, until an embarrassing delivery mix-up puts her sexy, gruff neighbor in her path…
Beckett Walsh is married to his job…which is a deal-breaker for the woman he’s supposed to be marrying. Even worse, his would-be father-in-law has pulled support from Beckett’s startup and now Beckett stands to lose everything. But the gorgeous, crazy makeup artist from down the hall has an equally crazy but mutually beneficial idea: if he convinces his sister to hire McKenna for her high-society wedding, McKenna will teach him about what women want so he can get his fiancée back.
All he has to do is make sure he doesn’t fall for the wrong girl.

Trouble Next Door is a fun romantic comedy that will leave you wanting more. Stefanie London has written a fantastic book and I don’t know why I haven’t read more from her already.

McKenna wants to start her own makeup business and decides that since she is giving up men she will focus on that. When a package she ordered is delivered to the wrong person, she meets her sexy neighbor, Beckett. Too bad that mix up was super embarrassing and hilarious. Beckett is essentially married to his job which costs him his fiance and her dad’s money for his startup. He makes a deal with McKenna to get his sister to hire her for her wedding in exchange for McKenna teaching him how to get his fiance back. Of course, it isn’t going to be easy.

Beckett reminds me of a few of my guy friends with his geeky ways and I loved this! I wasn’t sure if I was going to like McKenna at first but I ended up really liking her by the end. I was smiling pretty much the entire time I was reading this book and it’s been a stressful couple of months so I really needed that! I look forward to reading more from this author.

Thrill of Love by Melissa Foster #BlogTour #Review

Fate brings Ty and Aiyla together, but will tragedy tear them apart?
THRILL OF LOVE by Melissa Foster
The Bradens at Peaceful Harbor, MD #6
Releasing Oct 4, 2017
World Literary Press
Do you believe in fate?

World-renowned mountain climber and nature photographer Ty Braden never believed in second dates, much less heart-pounding, steal-his-breath love. But that was before a trip to Saint-Luc, where he met funny, strong, and entrancingly beautiful Aiyla Bell, a ski instructor and fellow photographer whose hopes and dreams, and love of the outdoors, aligned
perfectly with his—and whose kisses alone turned him inside out.

After spending five magical days and four sweet, soulful nights falling in love, Aiyla couldn’t imagine a day without Ty. But when he asked her to go with him on his next assignment, his reputation for having women at his beck and call stopped her from upending the life she’d worked so hard to create.

Months later fate steps in when a chance encounter brings Ty and Aiyla together for a five-day wilderness event held in the Colorado Mountains. Their deep, passionate connection is stronger than ever, and Ty is bound and determined not to lose her again. But when tragedy strikes and their
worlds are turned upside down, their love faces the truest test of all.

I’ve said it before and I will say it again. Melissa Foster knows how to craft a story that will take you on an emotional journey where you can feel what the characters are feeling as they feel it. When I finished this book, I literally felt like I couldn’t function because my emotions were all over the place and it was beautiful. Ty and Aiyla have a beautiful story that will touch your soul and when tragedy strikes you will feel as if it was shattered. Make sure you have tissues on hand! This is the reason why I always give Melissa’s books 5 stars!

"You're going to be a daddy."

Looking up into Alexi Petrov’s dark eyes as I break the news, I’m scared out of my mind. This man is the most terrifying defender in the NHL, and if it weren't for my sporty new baby bump, I probably wouldn't believe we hooked up that night. (Yes, I’ve sworn off margaritas for life.)

But the Alexi who goes to my doctor appointments, moves me into his guesthouse, and cooks so many gourmet meals I look like I'm carrying twins? He isn’t scary at all.

He’s sweet. And intense. And so sexy I want to smear him with honey and lick it off every inch of his powerful, protective, oh-so-swoony-worthy body.

But that’s not a part of our relationship anymore. We’re friends who intend to raise a child together. That’s all…

There’s no way I can be just friends with Amanda Esposito.

She’s everything I want in a woman—strong, sexy, compassionate, a little bit wild—with curves for miles and a smile she smiles just for me.

I don’t know if I’ve got what it takes to be that guy—the one with his heart on his sleeve—but for this woman, I’ll try.

Amanda and our baby are my future, my family, and I’m prepared to cross check anyone or anything that stands in my way. Even if that someone is the tough guy in the mirror...

Also in this series: Puck Aholic

Puck Me Baby is book 4 in the Bad Motherpuckers series but it could be read as a standalone although I would suggest reading them all. This series has been fantastic and seems to get better with each book. I especially loved this one because of the secret baby aspect.

Lili Valente is the queen of romantic comedies mainly because she doesn’t just leave it at the comedy part. There are real issues that come up in these stories as well giving them a little angst. Puck Me Baby may just be my favorite but I tend to think that about all of her books so it’s really hard to decide. Although Alexi has a Russian accent so you know that does add bonus points! Throw in the fact that he went all in when he found out Mandy was pregnant with his baby and he is the best book boyfriend!

I can’t wait to see what Ms. Valente comes up with next!

A fiercely independent duchess and a brooding, reclusive earl are tested by the demands of desire in this unforgettable romance from the USA Today bestselling author of A Kiss of Lies and A Night of Forever.
For Rose Deverill, one husband was enough. As the wealthy widow of the Duke of Roxborough, she has cultivated an unsavory reputation meant to discourage wife hunters. Thanks to a string of steamy affairs, Rose is perfectly content to be known by polite society as the “Wicked Widow”—until she’s reunited with the man she fell in love with at age fifteen. Their bedroom encounters are scorching, but it breaks Rose’s heart to wonder whether her reckless behavior ruined her for Philip Flagstaff.
The second son of the Earl of Cumberland, Philip never wanted the title. But after Philip’s older brother, Robert, follows him into the Battle of Waterloo, his worst fears come to pass. Now Robert lies in a soldier’s grave, and Philip is determined never to pass on the inheritance to children of his own. Then Rose appears, soothing the pain with her delightful curves and passionate kisses. The notorious Duchess seems to want nothing from him—and yet Philip has never ached to give a woman more.

Includes an excerpt from another Loveswept title.

A Love to Remember is book 7 in the Disgraced Lords series by Bronwen Evans although it can be read as a standalone. I’ve skipped around this series and have only read 4 books so far but I love these characters.

This is the story of Rose and Phillip. Rose was married at the age of 18 to her father’s friend, the Duke of Roxborough. He was more than twice her age and to say she was glad when he died would be an understatement. The one good thing that came from that marriage was her son, Drake. She has no desire to remarry and is known to the ton as the Wicked Widow. The one man who could change her mind about marriage is her lover of two years and childhood friend, Phillip.

Phillip, the Earl of Cumberland, lives with a lot of guilt since his brother, Robert, died taking a sword that was meant for him. He blames himself for Robert’s commission in the army and takes a vow to let the Earldom pass to his younger brother by never marrying or producing an heir. When Rose admits she wants more or their affair must end, he is torn. He wants to be with Rose but not in marriage. When Drake’s life is threatened, will he realize that maybe he has been too hard on himself and that he indeed loves Rose? Or will it be too late?

I love this series and Bronwen Evan’s writing. This is exactly what I’ve come to expect from the Libertine Scholars and I love devouring their stories. I say devour because so far I have read them all in one sitting. I look forward to reading the rest of this series and I might even re-read them all in order one day.

It’s time.
Time to get a life.
Time to start over.
Time to move beyond the past.

The guys in the Single Dads Club would tell you it was time years ago, but until recently, the risk of hurting my little girl outweighed the benefit of getting a piece of ass.

Now that I have a tween daughter on my hands? It’s becoming more apparent with every poster hung on the wall, every fight over wearing make-up and every uncomfortable conversation about puberty, that at least one of us needs a female touch in our lives.

Jesus. I can’t even think the words ‘female touch’ without thinking of her.

Charlotte Rose. Charlie.

She’s everything I shouldn’t want, but someone needs to tell that to my damn libido because every time she’s around I have a constant case of blue balls.

There’s a list of reasons why I shouldn’t give into what I feel—she’s my best friend’s little sister, she’s seen me at my most vulnerable, and the biggest one—she’s the first person in eleven years who has the potential to break me.

Snap a picture and caption it ‘Teenage boy in front of his first Playboy’ because that’s exactly how I feel right now and I’d bet that’s how I look.

Charlie stands in the doorway wearing a white bikini, her nipples hard and erect, begging to be touched. The first thing I notice is the way she doesn’t cover up, but opens the door wider, ushering me in with her free hand.

“I expected the pool guy.” Her voice changes pitch and I gather she’s as affected by this situation as I am. The only difference is, my arousal can’t be hidden.

“He’s out of town, so you got me.”

“And you can fix it?”

I stop and tilt my head her way. “Is that even a question?”

“Well,” she walks faster to catch up to me as I use a key to open up the one door that’s locked from guests. “Oh, I always wonder what’s behind these doors when I rent other people’s vacation homes.” She peeks her head over my shoulder and the scent of her perfume makes a beeline for my dick, making it twitch.

As he’s begging for an introduction, I squat to get away, but she doesn’t relent. Her tits are practically resting on my shoulder.

“Ever heard of personal space?” I remark, grabbing my tool set.

“This isn’t half as exciting as I thought it would be.” She finally moves back and I stand with the toolbox in my hands.

“Did you think there would be a dead body?”

She shrugs. “Porn maybe?”

“Why would there be porn?”

She purses her lips and looks up at the ceiling. It’s innocent and cute and I’m not sure I ever remember seeing her doing it before. “You know, the owner can’t keep it in their own house because they have a preteen daughter, so they keep their stash in the closet and watch it when there are no guests here.”

“Let me guess? I’m the guy with the preteen daughter.”

“You’re so smart. I see where Sydney gets it from.” She smiles, a mouthful of straight white teeth.

I nod and walk away. She follows.

“Do you need help?”

“Since I really have no idea what I’m fixing, I don’t know yet.” I open the screen door to the hot tub.

“It wouldn’t turn on.”

“That’s not a good sign.”

I open up the back and start working on it. The little I know about hot tubs might not be enough.

Charlie sits on the edge of the hot tub and puts her feet in, her purple polished toenails dipping in and out of the water.

“I think I deserve a discount if I can’t use the hot tub.”

I look up at her and she’s smirking.

She’s quiet for a few minutes while I fiddle around trying to figure out the source of the problem.

“I’m curious, Garrett…” she pauses and I glance up at her. “How do my tits look in this bikini?”

What readers are saying:

“Garrett is the perfect man – hard and virile on the outside and soft and squishy on the inside.” – Heather from White Hot Reads

“I am absolutely and positively in love with our bearded sexy beast, Garrett!” – Kristy France, Goodreads Reviewer

My Review

I have been waiting not so patiently for Garrett’s story. I watched Charlie pine for him in both Real Deal and Dirty Talker so I knew I wanted to see her snag him. There were times when I absolutely loved him and times where I wanted to cut his dick off for the way he was acting. I am glad we get to see what happened with his late wife although for that you will need a few tissues handy. Sydney may be my favorite of the kids so far. I thought it would be extremely hard to top Lilly’s cuteness in Real Deal but Sydney and her pre-teen problems and attitude took the cake.

Garrett was definitely a piece of work and he is lucky to have a girl like Charlie after him. A lesser woman would have gave up years ago what with the ghost of Sydney’s mom hanging around and him refusing to give love another chance. There were times when he said things to Charlie that made me see red and I was certainly happy when her brother, Vance, punched him for upsetting her. The men of Climax Cove sure know how to put their foot in their mouth but they also know how to apologize and show their ladies they love them.

I am sad to see this series end. I have loved the characters and I loved that there are cameos of characters from The Modern Love series as well. I believe with their next series, these authors won’t disappoint and I hope they continue to write together for a long time. The characters they create and the stories they tell are among the best I have read this year. I would highly recommend this book and this entire series to any romance lovers, anyone who loves to laugh, and anyone who loves a happy ending.

The Weight of Life by Whitney Barbetti #ReleaseBlitz #Review

“Don’t let go.” Those were my first words to him, as I hung over the side of a London bridge. The words I would soon say again, in a moment that didn’t involve bridges, but something much more fragile: my heart.
He held onto me for three weeks, in a time when I needed to be held. Needed to connect to someone who understood how loss tunneled unrepentantly through the fabric of your soul.
Although he said he’d stay, we both knew he wouldn’t. I had already survived one loss—I didn’t know if I’d survive another.
She spun into my life like a tornado of smiles and chatter and everything else I’d long avoided, with a persistence that I admired, albeit begrudgingly. She broke down each neat wall I’d constructed without even trying. Her presence alone caused me to remember what it felt like to smile, to look forward to what the day would bring.
But it was only supposed to last three weeks.
“Don’t let go,” she’d pleaded.
I’d promised her I wouldn’t—but I would. I didn’t have a choice.
This is one of the hardest reviews to write because after reading The Weight of Life I didn’t know how to accurately describe just how good this book is. Whitney Barbetti has such a way with words that I always have a terrible book hangover when I get done with one of her books and need a day or two to recover before I can even think about reading anything else.
Mila and Ames are two strangers who meet unconventionally but yet they have an established connection. The character development is phenomenal and you aren’t thrust into their world and forced to love them. The way it is written allows you to slowly get to know the characters and what is going on in their lives so that you naturally grow to love them. I didn’t want to put this book down nor did I want it to end. It truly reminded me why I love to read romance.

The matchmaker meets her match…in one very persistent tycoon!

The McNeill Magnates #2

Joanne Rock

Releasing May 9th, 2017

Harlequin Desire

The matchmaker meets her match…in one very persistent tycoon!

Secretive matchmaker to the rich and famous, Lydia Whitney prefers to stay behind the scenes. But after one mistake, rich resort developer Ian McNeill is hot on her trail, and he’s more attractive—and persistent—than ever before.

Ian can’t believe it when he figures out who’s messing with his family: a woman who has deceived—and seduced—him before. What’s her agenda? And why can’t he resist her? He’ll get the answers to all his questions, if Lydia agrees to his convenient marriage proposal. But once she’s in his arms again, will he let her go?

The Magnate’s Marriage Merger is the second book in the McNeill Magnates series. It’s a second chance romance about Ian and Lydia. Lydia is a matchmaker with a secret identity. Ian is shocked to find out his ex is the one who caused his family problems. When he finds out the truth, he suggests a marriage of convenience and Lydia accepts to prevent a scandal. But after they are married, things heat up. Feelings are rekindled and what was a sham marriage doesn’t feel so fake anymore.
I really enjoyed this book. It is a great continuation of this series. The characters are well developed and enjoyed seeing their romance rekindled. Joanne Rock has a way with words and I look forward to reading the next book in this series.

Yours and Mine by Christine Duval #BlogTour #Review

Yours And Mine
Christine Duval
(Freshman Forty #2)
Publication date: February 10th 2017
Genres: Contemporary, New Adult

The highly anticipated sequel to Positively Mine….

Picking up from the dramatic ending of Positively Mine, Yours and Mine continues the Freshman Forty series as we meet Danny Santoro, Laurel’s baby’s father, for the first time.

It’s been almost a year since he last saw her, that sultry morning she walked off the beach before dawn had even cracked the August sky. It seemed from her silence, she was out of his life forever.

But Laurel’s timing couldn’t be worse to tell him he’s a father. The last year hasn’t been easy. Danny’s own father was arrested for a DUI, his mother moved out, and Danny started sleeping with his brother’s old high school, drug-abusing girlfriend.

After Laurel shocks him with the news, she attempts to relinquish Danny of any parental responsibility leading to a heated custody battle. In an unorthodox arrangement, an eccentric judge orders Danny and Laurel to spend alternating weekends with each other for the upcoming school year.

Told from Danny’s point of view, Yours and Mine explores the second chapter of a romance that never got off the ground, the challenges of young parenting, and the hope of rekindled love.

Goodreads / Amazon

Yours and Mine is the much anticipated sequel to Positively Mine and should be read as such. It picks up right where the first book leaves off. Laurel is pregnant and decides to hide that from everyone including Danny. She must learn to juggle her school responsibilities with being a mother. The first thing she needs to do is tell Danny that he is a father.

Laurel is the typical college freshman. She doesn’t want to be an adult and take responsibility for her child so she does what she wants when Danny has the baby. Danny grows closer to Laurel but since she doesn’t want to grow up he takes her to court.

I think Christine Duval did a terrific job with this story. She described all aspects of this type of relationship really well in my opinion. I can’t wait to read more by her.

On Broken Wings is the third installment in the Wild Aces series and is the story of Dani and Easy. Dani knows what it’s like to lose everything. She miscarried the child she always wanted then lost her husband a few months later. Every day is a stuggle for her.
Easy has always lusted after Dani even though she’s forbidden fruit being married to his squad commander. Now he’ll do whatever it takes to make sure Dani is okay, even if it means his happiness. Dani doesn’t know that Easy has feelings of the romantic type for her. What will happen when she finds out?
This is the sweetest story. Make sure you have tissues on hand because you will cry! I loved the characters so much. My heart broke for Dani and I felt like I was feeling how sad she was right along with her. Easy is one of the best book boyfriends I’ve ever come across and I fell more in love with him as the story progressed.
