A fiercely independent duchess and a brooding, reclusive earl are tested by the demands of desire in this unforgettable romance from the USA Today bestselling author of A Kiss of Lies and A Night of Forever.
For Rose Deverill, one husband was enough. As the wealthy widow of the Duke of Roxborough, she has cultivated an unsavory reputation meant to discourage wife hunters. Thanks to a string of steamy affairs, Rose is perfectly content to be known by polite society as the “Wicked Widow”—until she’s reunited with the man she fell in love with at age fifteen. Their bedroom encounters are scorching, but it breaks Rose’s heart to wonder whether her reckless behavior ruined her for Philip Flagstaff.
The second son of the Earl of Cumberland, Philip never wanted the title. But after Philip’s older brother, Robert, follows him into the Battle of Waterloo, his worst fears come to pass. Now Robert lies in a soldier’s grave, and Philip is determined never to pass on the inheritance to children of his own. Then Rose appears, soothing the pain with her delightful curves and passionate kisses. The notorious Duchess seems to want nothing from him—and yet Philip has never ached to give a woman more.

Review

A Love to Remember is book 7 in the Disgraced Lords series by Bronwen Evans although it can be read as a standalone. I’ve skipped around this series and have only read 4 books so far but I love these characters.

This is the story of Rose and Phillip. Rose was married at the age of 18 to her father’s friend, the Duke of Roxborough. He was more than twice her age and to say she was glad when he died would be an understatement. The one good thing that came from that marriage was her son, Drake. She has no desire to remarry and is known to the ton as the Wicked Widow. The one man who could change her mind about marriage is her lover of two years and childhood friend, Phillip.

Phillip, the Earl of Cumberland, lives with a lot of guilt since his brother, Robert, died taking a sword that was meant for him. He blames himself for Robert’s commission in the army and takes a vow to let the Earldom pass to his younger brother by never marrying or producing an heir. When Rose admits she wants more or their affair must end, he is torn. He wants to be with Rose but not in marriage. When Drake’s life is threatened, will he realize that maybe he has been too hard on himself and that he indeed loves Rose? Or will it be too late?

I love this series and Bronwen Evan’s writing. This is exactly what I’ve come to expect from the Libertine Scholars and I love devouring their stories. I say devour because so far I have read them all in one sitting. I look forward to reading the rest of this series and I might even re-read them all in order one day.

It’s time.
Time to get a life.
Time to start over.
Time to move beyond the past.

The guys in the Single Dads Club would tell you it was time years ago, but until recently, the risk of hurting my little girl outweighed the benefit of getting a piece of ass.

Now that I have a tween daughter on my hands? It’s becoming more apparent with every poster hung on the wall, every fight over wearing make-up and every uncomfortable conversation about puberty, that at least one of us needs a female touch in our lives.

Jesus. I can’t even think the words ‘female touch’ without thinking of her.

Charlotte Rose. Charlie.

She’s everything I shouldn’t want, but someone needs to tell that to my damn libido because every time she’s around I have a constant case of blue balls.

There’s a list of reasons why I shouldn’t give into what I feel—she’s my best friend’s little sister, she’s seen me at my most vulnerable, and the biggest one—she’s the first person in eleven years who has the potential to break me.

Excerpt:

Snap a picture and caption it ‘Teenage boy in front of his first Playboy’ because that’s exactly how I feel right now and I’d bet that’s how I look.

Charlie stands in the doorway wearing a white bikini, her nipples hard and erect, begging to be touched. The first thing I notice is the way she doesn’t cover up, but opens the door wider, ushering me in with her free hand.

“I expected the pool guy.” Her voice changes pitch and I gather she’s as affected by this situation as I am. The only difference is, my arousal can’t be hidden.

“He’s out of town, so you got me.”

“And you can fix it?”

I stop and tilt my head her way. “Is that even a question?”

“Well,” she walks faster to catch up to me as I use a key to open up the one door that’s locked from guests. “Oh, I always wonder what’s behind these doors when I rent other people’s vacation homes.” She peeks her head over my shoulder and the scent of her perfume makes a beeline for my dick, making it twitch.

As he’s begging for an introduction, I squat to get away, but she doesn’t relent. Her tits are practically resting on my shoulder.

“Ever heard of personal space?” I remark, grabbing my tool set.

“This isn’t half as exciting as I thought it would be.” She finally moves back and I stand with the toolbox in my hands.

“Did you think there would be a dead body?”

She shrugs. “Porn maybe?”

“Why would there be porn?”

She purses her lips and looks up at the ceiling. It’s innocent and cute and I’m not sure I ever remember seeing her doing it before. “You know, the owner can’t keep it in their own house because they have a preteen daughter, so they keep their stash in the closet and watch it when there are no guests here.”

“Let me guess? I’m the guy with the preteen daughter.”

“You’re so smart. I see where Sydney gets it from.” She smiles, a mouthful of straight white teeth.

I nod and walk away. She follows.

“Do you need help?”

“Since I really have no idea what I’m fixing, I don’t know yet.” I open the screen door to the hot tub.

“It wouldn’t turn on.”

“That’s not a good sign.”

I open up the back and start working on it. The little I know about hot tubs might not be enough.

Charlie sits on the edge of the hot tub and puts her feet in, her purple polished toenails dipping in and out of the water.

“I think I deserve a discount if I can’t use the hot tub.”

I look up at her and she’s smirking.

“Funny.”

She’s quiet for a few minutes while I fiddle around trying to figure out the source of the problem.

“I’m curious, Garrett…” she pauses and I glance up at her. “How do my tits look in this bikini?”

What readers are saying:

“Garrett is the perfect man – hard and virile on the outside and soft and squishy on the inside.” – Heather from White Hot Reads

“I am absolutely and positively in love with our bearded sexy beast, Garrett!” – Kristy France, Goodreads Reviewer

My Review

I have been waiting not so patiently for Garrett’s story. I watched Charlie pine for him in both Real Deal and Dirty Talker so I knew I wanted to see her snag him. There were times when I absolutely loved him and times where I wanted to cut his dick off for the way he was acting. I am glad we get to see what happened with his late wife although for that you will need a few tissues handy. Sydney may be my favorite of the kids so far. I thought it would be extremely hard to top Lilly’s cuteness in Real Deal but Sydney and her pre-teen problems and attitude took the cake.

Garrett was definitely a piece of work and he is lucky to have a girl like Charlie after him. A lesser woman would have gave up years ago what with the ghost of Sydney’s mom hanging around and him refusing to give love another chance. There were times when he said things to Charlie that made me see red and I was certainly happy when her brother, Vance, punched him for upsetting her. The men of Climax Cove sure know how to put their foot in their mouth but they also know how to apologize and show their ladies they love them.

I am sad to see this series end. I have loved the characters and I loved that there are cameos of characters from The Modern Love series as well. I believe with their next series, these authors won’t disappoint and I hope they continue to write together for a long time. The characters they create and the stories they tell are among the best I have read this year. I would highly recommend this book and this entire series to any romance lovers, anyone who loves to laugh, and anyone who loves a happy ending.

The Weight of Life by Whitney Barbetti #ReleaseBlitz #Review

Mila

“Don’t let go.” Those were my first words to him, as I hung over the side of a London bridge. The words I would soon say again, in a moment that didn’t involve bridges, but something much more fragile: my heart.

He held onto me for three weeks, in a time when I needed to be held. Needed to connect to someone who understood how loss tunneled unrepentantly through the fabric of your soul.

Although he said he’d stay, we both knew he wouldn’t. I had already survived one loss—I didn’t know if I’d survive another.
Ames

She spun into my life like a tornado of smiles and chatter and everything else I’d long avoided, with a persistence that I admired, albeit begrudgingly. She broke down each neat wall I’d constructed without even trying. Her presence alone caused me to remember what it felt like to smile, to look forward to what the day would bring.

But it was only supposed to last three weeks.

“Don’t let go,” she’d pleaded.

I’d promised her I wouldn’t—but I would. I didn’t have a choice.
Review
This is one of the hardest reviews to write because after reading The Weight of Life I didn’t know how to accurately describe just how good this book is. Whitney Barbetti has such a way with words that I always have a terrible book hangover when I get done with one of her books and need a day or two to recover before I can even think about reading anything else.
Mila and Ames are two strangers who meet unconventionally but yet they have an established connection. The character development is phenomenal and you aren’t thrust into their world and forced to love them. The way it is written allows you to slowly get to know the characters and what is going on in their lives so that you naturally grow to love them. I didn’t want to put this book down nor did I want it to end. It truly reminded me why I love to read romance.

The Magnate’s Marriage Merger by Joanne Rock #ReleaseBlitz #Review

The matchmaker meets her match…in one very persistent tycoon!

THE MAGNATE’S MARRIAGE MERGER

The McNeill Magnates #2

Joanne Rock

Releasing May 9th, 2017

Harlequin Desire

The matchmaker meets her match…in one very persistent tycoon!

Secretive matchmaker to the rich and famous, Lydia Whitney prefers to stay behind the scenes. But after one mistake, rich resort developer Ian McNeill is hot on her trail, and he’s more attractive—and persistent—than ever before.

Ian can’t believe it when he figures out who’s messing with his family: a woman who has deceived—and seduced—him before. What’s her agenda? And why can’t he resist her? He’ll get the answers to all his questions, if Lydia agrees to his convenient marriage proposal. But once she’s in his arms again, will he let her go?

The Magnate’s Marriage Merger is the second book in the McNeill Magnates series. It’s a second chance romance about Ian and Lydia. Lydia is a matchmaker with a secret identity. Ian is shocked to find out his ex is the one who caused his family problems. When he finds out the truth, he suggests a marriage of convenience and Lydia accepts to prevent a scandal. But after they are married, things heat up. Feelings are rekindled and what was a sham marriage doesn’t feel so fake anymore.
I really enjoyed this book. It is a great continuation of this series. The characters are well developed and enjoyed seeing their romance rekindled. Joanne Rock has a way with words and I look forward to reading the next book in this series.

Yours and Mine by Christine Duval #BlogTour #Review

Yours And Mine
Christine Duval
(Freshman Forty #2)
Publication date: February 10th 2017
Genres: Contemporary, New Adult

The highly anticipated sequel to Positively Mine….

Picking up from the dramatic ending of Positively Mine, Yours and Mine continues the Freshman Forty series as we meet Danny Santoro, Laurel’s baby’s father, for the first time.

It’s been almost a year since he last saw her, that sultry morning she walked off the beach before dawn had even cracked the August sky. It seemed from her silence, she was out of his life forever.

But Laurel’s timing couldn’t be worse to tell him he’s a father. The last year hasn’t been easy. Danny’s own father was arrested for a DUI, his mother moved out, and Danny started sleeping with his brother’s old high school, drug-abusing girlfriend.

After Laurel shocks him with the news, she attempts to relinquish Danny of any parental responsibility leading to a heated custody battle. In an unorthodox arrangement, an eccentric judge orders Danny and Laurel to spend alternating weekends with each other for the upcoming school year.

Told from Danny’s point of view, Yours and Mine explores the second chapter of a romance that never got off the ground, the challenges of young parenting, and the hope of rekindled love.

Review

Yours and Mine is the much anticipated sequel to Positively Mine and should be read as such. It picks up right where the first book leaves off. Laurel is pregnant and decides to hide that from everyone including Danny. She must learn to juggle her school responsibilities with being a mother. The first thing she needs to do is tell Danny that he is a father.

Laurel is the typical college freshman. She doesn’t want to be an adult and take responsibility for her child so she does what she wants when Danny has the baby. Danny grows closer to Laurel but since she doesn’t want to grow up he takes her to court.

I think Christine Duval did a terrific job with this story. She described all aspects of this type of relationship really well in my opinion. I can’t wait to read more by her.

On Broken Wings is the third installment in the Wild Aces series and is the story of Dani and Easy. Dani knows what it’s like to lose everything. She miscarried the child she always wanted then lost her husband a few months later. Every day is a stuggle for her.
Easy has always lusted after Dani even though she’s forbidden fruit being married to his squad commander. Now he’ll do whatever it takes to make sure Dani is okay, even if it means his happiness. Dani doesn’t know that Easy has feelings of the romantic type for her. What will happen when she finds out?
This is the sweetest story. Make sure you have tissues on hand because you will cry! I loved the characters so much. My heart broke for Dani and I felt like I was feeling how sad she was right along with her. Easy is one of the best book boyfriends I’ve ever come across and I fell more in love with him as the story progressed.
Chanel Cleeton’s writing is phenomenal and I can’t wait to read more of her work.

The distance from Colorado to Maine is not far enough to escape the memories.
The time I’ve been away is not long enough to heal the pain.
I left Colorado, determined to discover who I am outside of my grief, but I fell apart along the way.
I’m lost again.

When Jude follows me, I can’t turn him away. But I can’t let him in, either.
Not all the way.
I know when he finds out my secret, the one I keep hidden in the darkest part of my heart, he’ll leave me.
Alone.
Like I was before.

“Are you okay?”
He laughed, but it was without humor. He dropped his head and stared at his plate as I had minutes earlier. “Am I okay?” Shaking his head, he said, “No, I’m not fucking okay.” He pushed away from the table hard enough that the screech of the chair across the wooden floor startled me. Jude was always so steady, and while he wasn’t necessarily predictable, he wasn’t prone to outbursts of anger like this. He picked up his plate and walked to the sink and I stared at his back, willing him to talk to me. But I couldn’t ask that of him.
Picking up my plate, I debated what to do. It was surreal almost, being in Jude’s apartment but not touching him the way I wanted to. Finally, I joined him at the sink as he worked a sponge into a lather and swiped it across his plate. “Let me do it,” I said softly, reaching a hand in to take the sponge from him.
He let go of the plate and clasped my forearm as I reached into the sink. His touch was gentle as he turned my wrist over and rubbed a thumb slowly across the length of my vein, visible through my translucent skin. I could only hold my breath as he touched me like this, like he was memorizing the blue lines that ran the length of my forearm. His hands were warm, searching, and I realized that I’d been yearning for this, for the simple act of him touching my skin like it was delicate. His fingers moved down, and my closed fist opened to give him access to my palm, where he traced the lines in my hands. It was so intimate, even in its simplicity, that all I could do was watch him as he examined my hands. “I’ve missed you,” he said in a voice that was just short of a whisper. My heart turned over as he bent my fingers gently back into my fist and rubbed his soapy fingers over the knuckles.
When he let go of my hand and turned away from me, I felt goose bumps ignite across my skin. All I wanted was for him to keep touching me, but I’d hurt him. And he’d hurt me.
We had miles of pain between the two of us, and even though we were no longer miles apart, that pain existed between us like another person, holding both of us back.
“I missed you too,” I said too late, when I’d caught my breath again.
“Please,” he pleaded as he rinsed the plate in his hands. “Ican’t hear you say that right now.”
Nodding, I backed away. I understood. This wasn’t the time or place, and we were little more than strangers right now. I was a new Trista, someone he had never known.
Likely, someone he didn’t want to know.
Review
Back to Yesterday is the conclusion to Into The Tomorrows and should be read after. Otherwise, you will be very lost.
I’ve been waiting for this book ever since I read Into The Tomorrows and it ended on such a cliffhanger! This is Trista’s journey as she tries to pick up the pieces that were left behind after a huge heartbreaking moment. She’s left with all of these emotions and if you’ve ever had your heart broken then you know exactly what she is feeling. It can be so easy to just get lost in the anger and doubt that comes with it.
We get a better picture of Trista as a person in this book through past events and what is happening in the present. The book does skip back and forth between the two. I absolutely loved being able to see why she is the way she is and her complete character development that we don’t get in the first book.
This is an extremely emotional book and it will stay with you. It was so good that I didn’t want to put it down no matter how emotional it got. It wasn’t exactly the story I wanted but it was so much more than I anticipated! Whitney Barbetti is awesome at writing emotional books and this is one you don’t want to miss!
Rating: 5 stars
I am a wife to one and a mom to two humans and one cat. I have a deep and abiding love for nachos – especially the kind with the liquid cheese, like from Taco Bell (sorry). I run on less than four hours of sleep thanks to copious amounts of Diet Coke. (Note: this paragraph is not sponsored by anyone except my hungry stomach.)
As a Navy brat, I grew up all over the country, from California, up the east coast from Florida to New England and Colorado. I currently live in Idaho, where we have lots of potatoes and windmills.
I write character-driven New Adult novels, heavy on the emotional connection. I LOVE love. I love writing about broken characters who find their soul mates.

Review
Crushing on Love is the fourth book in the Braden’s of Peaceful Harbor series but each book can be read as a standalone. This book is about Shannon and Steven.

Shannon returns to Colorado to see if the sparks between her and Steven are real and can lead to something more. She needs some time away from her family and what better way to do that than to make it a trip worth remembering. Steven enjoys his quiet life in Colorado and doesn’t want just a fling. He is into Shannon but knows she will be leaving soon.

I thought Shannon and Steven were perfect for each other and I loved how they had sweet nicknames for the other. They just seemed to fit and I wanted things to work out so badly between them. Melissa Foster has a way of telling a story that just comes together so perfectly and she has done that once again with Crushing on Love. Great series and I hope there is more to come!

Review

Wilder is filled with suspense, adventure, and emotion. It’s everything I’ve come to expect from Rebecca Yarros and it was phenomenal.

The entire story takes place on a cruise ship that doubles as a college. Leah is hired as a tutor for Paxton so that he can graduate. The chemistry between these two is smoking hot! I really enjoyed their story and can’t wait to see what happens as this series progresses.

ABOUT REBECCA YARROS

Rebecca Yarros

Rebecca Yarros is a hopeless romantic and a lover of all things coffee, chocolate, and Paleo. She is the author of the Flight & Glory series, including Full Measures, the award-winning Eyes Turned Skyward, Beyond What is Given, and Hallowed Ground. She loves military heroes, and has been blissfully married to hers for fourteen years.

When she’s not writing, she’s tying hockey skates for her four sons, sneaking in some guitar time, or watching brat-pack movies with her two daughters. She lives in Colorado with the hottest Apache pilot ever, their rambunctious gaggle of kids, an English bulldog who is more stubborn than sweet, and a bunny named General Fluffy Pants who torments the aforementioned bulldog. They recently adopted their youngest daughter from the foster system, and Rebecca is passionate about helping others do the same.

Shannon’s return to Colorado has as much to do with the game of cat and mouse she and Steve have been playing as it does the data she’s been hired to collect. But despite her efforts to explore the undeniable heat simmering between them, Steve’s intent on keeping his distance.

When a ranch abutting the national park goes up for sale, Steve will do whatever it takes to keep it from falling into the wrong hands.
