Title: Doggie Style
Series: Dirty Truths #2
Author: Piper Rayne
Genre: Romantic Comedy
Release Date: November 20, 2017

Rumors never bothered me. If people want to guess at my sexuality because I design dog clothes for a living—let them. I know the truth.

I’m a red-blooded heterosexual male and just because I don’t have my tongue hanging out of my mouth around every female like my dog Cooper, doesn’t mean I don’t appreciate the female form.

Now with Teegan Lowery in my life I’m suddenly panting right next to Cooper, hoping for a taste.

I hired her for her stellar PR skills, but she’s slowly weaseling her way into a spot I’ve kept a NO VACANCY sign on for years. Everything about Teegan screams unavailable. The last thing I need is another dramatic, high maintenance woman in my life. Believe me, been there and done that.

But the sexual tension between us is like a game of tug-of-war and neither of us wants to lose.

I love dogs.
She hates them.
Turns out, we both love doggie style.

Doggie Style is book 2 in the Dirty Truths series. It is exactly what I have come to expect from Piper & Rayne. They write witty, humorous, sexy romances and this one gets the added bonus of dogs.
Leo is a pet groomer who owns his own Etsy shop and designs clothes for dogs. Since he doesn’t date ever, most people think he’s gay. He hires Teegan to do some PR work for him and they get off to a rocky start when she walks into his shop screaming at someone on the phone. She believes Leo is gay so there is this huge misunderstanding between them for a while.
I really enjoyed this book and love that as always we get to see more of the characters from the first book. I cannot wait to get my hands on Jagger’s book!

We aren’t trying to stamp ourselves with a top-secret label. We wanted to write without apology. We wanted to not be pigeon holed into a specific outline. Whether it’s an alpha male, heavy angst, a happily ever after, there’s something you are absolutely certain the book will contain. Heck, we’re readers, too, we get it.
What can we tell you about ourselves? We both have kindle’s full of one-clickable books. We’re both married to husbands who drive us to drink. We’re both chauffeurs to our kids. Most of all, we love hot heroes and quirky heroines that make us laugh, and we hope you do, too.

It had to be a joke.
Any minute now, a van would drive up and Ashton Kutcher would slide the door open, laughing hysterically at my melodramatic performance on the front porch.
But nothing happened.
The words on the page jumbled into a toxic mess my brain refused to comprehend, much less accept.
Please consider this letter as a formal request to arrange a paternity test (DNA).
I barely remembered Chelsea Airy.
That wasn’t true—we’d gone out once, and we’d been friends for a while after. But I hadn’t heard so much as a peep from her since I’d gotten married. I’d reached out a handful of times, but she’d quit responding and fell off the face of the earth. There hadn’t been a text, an email, a phone call, not even a Facebook message, much less a stork in the last five years.
My wife could forgive a lot, but she’d never wanted children—much less another woman’s.

Review
Unexpected Arrivals is an emotional read about finding the one you love and want to be with and then life happening and things not working out. The blurb makes you believe things happened one way when in actuality it is another.
This story is told in three parts and encompasses several years. It is not an easy task to accomplish this in a cohesive way that captures attention but this author nailed it! I couldn’t put this book down because I had to know how it ended. Would the wife leave? Would James and Cora be together? I would highly recommend this book!

Review

Twisted Truths is book 3 in the Blood Brothers series by Rebecca Zanetti. These books should be read in order to understand everything. I have never read the Sin Brothers series that this series is a spin off from, but I feel that it should probably be read first to avoid confusion.

Noni is determined to find her 3-month-old niece and her kidnapper but she needs Denver’s help. The problem is that Denver broke her heart a year ago and now she has no way to find him. She posts a picture of them on the internet in hopes that someone will know where he is. However, this sets Dr. Madison and Sheriff Cobb’s sites on her as a potential target to get to the Blood Brothers. Denver never told Noni about his past and he left when he fell in love with her to keep her safe. Now with the help of his brothers, he must find the enemy while also finding a kidnapper and a baby. Things are about to get intense; so much so that they call in the Sin Brothers for backup.

This is a phenomenal conclusion to the Blood Brothers series. It wraps everything up with a nice bow. Maybe nice is the wrong word since this book is intense and filled with fast-paced action and suspense. This author does a fantastic job of weaving a story that has not one but two different suspense filled storylines that compliment each other. Plus we get to see Denver and Noni’s passionate reunion! This is a series you don’t want to miss!

About the Books:

The Attraction Equation

FBI agent Max Carter lives his life by a strict set of rules—rules that don’t allow for distraction, deviation…or a relationship. But tell that to his matchmaking mama. To avoid yet another set-up, he announces he has a girlfriend. And now has to produce said girlfriend at Christmas dinner. Maybe Santa has a suitable actress in that red bag of his…

Gina Castillo is about to break her building’s iron-clad “no pets” policy to give her little brother the perfect Christmas gift—a dog. Too bad Max, the most inconveniently sexy tenant in the building, catches her red handed. Gina expects to be evicted, but instead finds herself blackmailed into playing the role of his girlfriend.

Two lies plus one dog should equal a hot mess of a holiday, but attraction and Christmas magic might just defy the rules…

Review

The Attraction Equation is such a cute fun read. Max is super strict about rules while Gina is a rule breaker. They meet when Gina is sneaking around trying to hide a dog that breaks her building’s “no pet” policy. Max needs a pretend girlfriend to keep his family from trying to set him up so he blackmails Gina into being that girl.

I loved that these characters are complete total opposites. On the surface it doesn’t seem like they would necessarily go together but I think that’s what makes it work. Gina is fun and flighty while Max is a no nonsense FBI agent. He is super quirky and Gina accepts all of his quirks.

I really enjoyed this story and can’t wait to read more from this author!

Trouble Next Door

McKenna Prescott is the queen of picking the wrong men. When her latest boyfriend dumps her, she decides to devote her time to “exploring herself” (read: drinking wine and ordering sex toys online) and starting her freelance makeup business. Beckett Walsh is married to his job…which is a deal-breaker for the woman he’s supposed to be marrying. Even worse, his would-be father-in-law has pulled support from Beckett’s startup and now Beckett stands to lose everything. But the gorgeous, crazy makeup artist from down the hall has an equally crazy but mutually beneficial idea: if he convinces his sister to hire McKenna for her high-society wedding, McKenna will teach him about what women want so he can get his fiancée back.
All he has to do is make sure he doesn’t fall for the wrong girl.

Review

Trouble Next Door is a fun romantic comedy that will leave you wanting more. Stefanie London has written a fantastic book and I don’t know why I haven’t read more from her already.

McKenna wants to start her own makeup business and decides that since she is giving up men she will focus on that. When a package she ordered is delivered to the wrong person, she meets her sexy neighbor, Beckett. Too bad that mix up was super embarrassing and hilarious. Beckett is essentially married to his job which costs him his fiance and her dad’s money for his startup. He makes a deal with McKenna to get his sister to hire her for her wedding in exchange for McKenna teaching him how to get his fiance back. Of course, it isn’t going to be easy.

Beckett reminds me of a few of my guy friends with his geeky ways and I loved this! I wasn’t sure if I was going to like McKenna at first but I ended up really liking her by the end. I was smiling pretty much the entire time I was reading this book and it’s been a stressful couple of months so I really needed that! I look forward to reading more from this author.

Would it be weird if I just kissed her? Yeah, it would be weird. But all of sudden, that’s all I can think about doing after this shitty, shitty day.
She gives me a little scowl as she wipes water off her chin, but I can tell she’s glad I’m here. She knows it, and I know it. The excitement is written all over both our faces.
“Look what you made me do,” she says in a tone that’s more teasing than mad. “A menace, that’s what you are.”
“Aw, I’m sorry, sweetie. You need some help?”
I don’t even wait for her to say yes. I just want to be near her, that’s all. Nothing inappropriate. Nothing “improper.” Today, I just need to be next to this girl who fucking lights up whenever she see me.
So I drop the dolly and walk around the desk so I’m squatting next to her. I grab another napkin off the desktop, and she stares, mouth slightly open, as I dab at the water drops on her collarbone. There’s barely anything, really.
And what a total sham. Nothing improper? This is the definition of improper. But I can’t stop dabbing, can’t stop pressing the napkin over her dewy skin, wishing to God that it was my fingers or my mouth instead.
The donut-shaped desk encircles us, forces us close together, and now that I’m near enough to smell her, I realize this was a really bad idea. She smells like coconuts and flowers, some exotic mix that goes straight to my head and other parts lower down.
I’m not much for fancy shit. I shower at night after I’ve been out all day, and I slap on whatever deodorant I bought on sale last time I was at the drugstore. All of a sudden, I glance down, conscious of the way Layla’s nipples have hardened through her thin black sweater, conscious of the
way my pants are suddenly very tight. She inhales sharply, and I’m extremely aware of the fact that I have been heaving boxes around this city
all damn day.
Fuck, I think. She must think I absolutely reek.
Quickly, I stand up and shuffle to the other side of the desk to start unloading and scanning packages. This day. This god damn day.
If I just ruined my chances with this girl, I’m going to break my own arm off.
And that’s when I realize I actually want a chance with NYU. Layla. I want to go on a date with her. I want to take her out to dinner and hold her hand while we walk around the city. I want to know what kinds of sounds she makes when I kiss her, or maybe even when I do other things to her too.
Fuck. The timing seriously could not be worse. NoI can’t do this right now.
“So, Nico,” she says, pulling me out of my hurricane of doubt. “Got big plans this weekend?”
She’s hopeful, all big blue eyes as she leans over on the desk. I exhale. No, I really can’t do this with her. So even though I’m dying to make her laugh again, I just shrug and set one of the packages down with a thump.
“Not really,” I say. “Working at AJ’s, you know. Take it easy on Sunday, maybe go see some art or something.”
“You like art? Really?”
I look up, no longer needing to pretend I’m annoyed with her. These rich girls––all the goddamn same. They only see the uniform, the scuffed shoes, the brown skin. They see me and think the only thing I’m good for is watching sports and drinking beer. Don’t get me wrong, I like sports and I like beer. But can’t I have other interests too?
“I could like art,” I say casually as I scan another package. “Why does that surprise you? You think the FedEx means Philistine?”
Her rosebud mouth drops open, and I can’t quite hide my smirk. That’s right, baby. I can use big words too

Review
This is the first book I have read by Nicole French and I was impressed. I didn’t realize this was a part one when I first got it and I was a little disappointed when I got to the end. The cliffhanger will leave you wanting to know what happens next immediately.
This book started out fast paced and pulled you in as you learned more about Layla and Nico. I have really enjoyed their story and can’t wait to read what happens next. I need the next book like yesterday.

Secrets and lies are a killer way to start any partnership—especially a horizontal one.

Now, I’m a glass half full kinda of guy, so, after the ‘you’re fired’ speech was directed at me, I figure now’s the time to be the screenwriter I came to sunny California to be. Unfortunately, there are about as many people trying to sell a script in L.A. as there are vegans in the pacific northwest.

But lucky for me, a few weeks ago my agent found an investor for my script. Hooray, all my problems are solved! NOT.

Because the investor will only agree to fund my film if I use one specific actress. And that one specific actress? Well of course, it just has to be the same actress I screwed over only months before. But she doesn’t need to know about that one tiny detail, does she? All that matters is getting her to agree to do the film and I’ll do whatever it takes. We can leave the past, in the past, right?

I thought my charm would win her over. Never would I have been prepared for the terms she laid out on the table.

She needed a nanny.
I needed a lead actress.
Somehow I became The Manny.

Review

The Manny is book 1 in the Dirty Truth series by Piper Rayne. I love that all three of their series are interconnected and they’ve built their own world that I would love to live in.

Vance is a screenwriter trying to get his script funded but the investor wants the one actress in Hollywood that he royally screwed over for a part. Layla is an overworked, tired single mom of two just trying to find her breakout role that will get her out of playing the same character in everything. He needs an actress, she needs a nanny.

Layla strikes up a deal with Vance that in order for her to take the part, he has to be her full-time manny until she can find someone else. Hilarity ensues since Vance knows nothing about taking care of a 4-year-old. Payne is a very rambunctious little boy and to say Vance has his hands full might be an understatement. I loved Payne and his crazy antics!

Piper and Rayne really nailed it when they wrote about Vance changing a poopy diaper for the first time! It was hilarious and exactly how my husband handled his first bad diaper. I was rolling on the floor I was laughing so hard. The fantastic thing is that is not the only thing that will make you laugh like that. This book has it all; romance, comedy, family drama. I seriously cannot wait to read Jagger’s and Leo’s stories!

Beth is more than ready to head to college and be on her own after living the past few years being treated like she was going to break. She’s mad when her brother’s best friend, David, acts like he is her bodyguard on campus. What she doesn’t know is that David couldn’t stay away from her if he wanted to. He makes her feel safe yet she still feels like she’s being held back from experiencing life. With the ex that almost destroyed her walking back into her life along with a potential stalker, Beth is determined to prove that she can handle things herself.

This story will give you all the feels. I have a serious book hangover and I’m not sure that I will get over it anytime soon. In Pieces is an emotional ride with a touch of suspense thrown in that will leave you wanting more. This was my first read by Danielle Pearl and her writing is phenomenal. I can’t wait to read more.

Chasing Christmas Eve by Jill Shalvis

Chasing Christmas Eve by Jill Shalvis

A Standalone Heartbreaker Bay novel

Meet cute…

Run for the hills—temporarily. That’s Colbie Albright’s plan when she flees New York for San Francisco. Wrangling her crazy family by day and writing a bestselling YA fantasy series by night has taken its toll. In short, Colbie’s so over it that she’s under it. She’s also under the waters of a historic San Francisco fountain within an hour of arrival. Fortunately, the guy who fishes Colbie out has her looking forward to Christmas among strangers. But she’s pretty sure Spencer Baldwin won’t be a stranger for long.

Make merry…

Spence’s commitment to hiding from the Ghosts of Relationships Past means he doesn’t have to worry about the powerful—okay, crazy hot—chemistry he’s got with Colbie. Just because she can laugh at anything, especially herself… just because she’s gorgeous and a great listener…just because she “gets” Spence immediately doesn’t mean he won’t be able to let Colbie go. Does it?

…and hope for a miracle.

Now the clock’s ticking for Colbie and Spence: Two weeks to cut loose. Two weeks to fall hard. Two weeks to figure out how to make this Christmas last a lifetime.

Excerpt

At the unexpected sight of Spence, Colbie startled hard. How was it that he was the one who needed glasses and yet she’d not seen him standing against the window? “No, I don’t kill a lot of people,” she said cautiously because she was wearing only a towelin front of a strange man. “But I’m happy to make an exception.”

He laughed, a rough rumble that was more than a little contagious but she controlled herself because, hello, she was once again dripping wet before the man who seemed to make her knees forget to hold her up.

“I didn’t mean to scare you,” he said and pushed off the wall to come close.

She froze, but he held up his hands like, I come in peace, and crouched at her feet to scoop up the clothes she hadn’t realized she’d dropped.

Leggings, a long forgiving tee, and the peach silk bra-and-panty set that hadn’t gotten so much as a blink from the TSA guy.

But it got one out of Spence. He also swallowed hard as she snatched them back from him.

“Hold on,” he said and caught her arm, pulling it toward him to look at her bleeding elbow.

“Sit,” he said and gently pushed her down to a weight bench. He vanished into the bathroom and came back out with a first aid kit.

It took him less than two minutes to clean and bandage the scrape. Then, easily balanced at her side on the balls of his feet, he did the same for both her knees, which she hadn’t noticed were also scraped up.

“You must’ve hit the brick coping as you fell in the fountain,” he said and let his thumb slide over the skin just above one bandaged knee.

She shivered, and not from the cold either. “Not going to kiss it better?” she heard herself ask before biting her tongue for running away with her good sense.

She’d raised her younger twin brothers. Scrappy, roughhouse wild animals, the both of them, so there’d been plenty of injuries she’d kissed over the years.

But no one had ever kissed hers. Not surprising, since most of her injuries tended to be on the inside, where they didn’t show. Still, she was horrified she’d said anything at all. “I didn’t mean—”

She broke off, frozen like a deer in the headlights as Spence slowly lowered his head, brushing his lips over the Band-Aid on her elbow, then her knees. When he lifted his head, he pushed his glasses higher on his nose, those whiskey eyes warm and amused behind his lenses. “Better?”

Shockingly better. Since she didn’t quite trust her voice at the moment, she gave a jerky nod and took her clothes back into the bathroom. She shut the door and then leaned against it, letting out a slow, deliberate breath. Holy cow, she was out of her league. He was somehow both cute and hot, and those glasses . . .

Title: Forget You Not
A Reclusive Novel
Author: Harloe Rae
Genre: New Adult Contemporary Romance
Release Date: September 27, 2017
Blurb
Destiny is bogus and fate is fake.
Everything happens for a reason?
Whatever.
I gave up on my fairy tale years ago.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not settling for less.
All my energy gets poured into a job I love rather than dead end relationships.
Men aren’t even a blip on my radar these days.
Who needs them?
Except to scratch the occasional itch, I’m not interested in anything they have to offer.

If so-called Cupid ever comes knocking on my door, I’ll be waiting with my flying pig because happily ever after doesn’t exist.
I’ve become a jaded disbeliever and my main reason just sauntered into the bar.
Rowen Sworr is the only arrow that pierced my heart, and dammit, he stuck.

His random reappearance is a complicated twist from that meddling matchmaker I didn’t see coming…

Forget You Not is the second standalone in the interconnected Reclusive Novel Series.

Lark shoots me a glare before asking, “What are you doing here?”
The venom in her voice is probably meant to scare me away but all I hear is come closer. I’m totally mesmerized.
“Hey, Sweetheart. I said you’d be seeing me soon. Figured I’d stop by and say hello in person.” I make sure to keep my tone calm but my skin inches with heat at the fire burning from her gaze.
“And I told you to leave me alone unless you’re ready to give me what I want.” She shifts her stare down to my groin while raising an expectant brow. “Is that what you’ve brought me?” She lifts her scorching eyes back to my face and seductively bites into her bottom lip.
Her sass is tantalizing but it’s the beauty underneath I’m truly after. “Sorry to disappoint you but that’s not why I’m here, Vix. I want to discuss some stuff, relating to us.”
“Vix? As in the vapor rub?”
An amused chuckle bounces up my throat. “Nah, short for Vixen.”
She seems to mull it over with a slight tilt of her head. “I suppose that’s fitting, though you don’t need to be handing out nicknames. Tell me, what could we possibly have to talk about?”
“No idle chit-chat first? I’m hoping we can get to know each other. I haven’t been able to stop thinking about you since the other night and this sexy librarian look you’re rocking is hot as hell, but it’s more than that. Are you willing to hear me out? Maybe make an exception for me?”
A frustrated sigh answers my question. “I don’t have the patience for this, Rowen. I’m very busy here and you’re wasting my time.”
I lean against the door, trying to show I’m not ready to leave quite yet. “Answer me this. Where did you work when you were younger? Let’s say seven years ago?”
Lark glances away before shuffling some papers into piles. Her fidgeting makes me smile because now I’m certain she remembers just fine. A barely-there blush blooms on her cheeks while she continues avoiding my question. I wait her out and soon enough she graces me with a response.
“I don’t see how that’s any of your business.” Her deflection causes me to edge forward a bit, as though we need to be closer. She speaks to the depths of my soul, no matter if she gives me sass or softness.
“I’m trying here, Vix. Want to help me out? Did you work at Brack’s Box during the summer of 2010? Maybe a guy stopped in on a random July afternoon and stumbled over his words in your stunning presence. Do you remember that?”
Lark is still avoiding eye contact but I hear her whispered yes as if she shouted it across the room.
Review
When Rowen walked into her life, Lark thought all of her dreams of love and happily ever after were coming true. But then he left and took those dreams away with him. Now he’s back and determined to win his girl back no matter how hard she pushes him away. Lark is trying to protect her heart from getting hurt again but she can’t deny the attraction she feels to Rowen. He’s got to prove that he won’t hurt her again but will she let him?
I loved this story of second chances and true love. When you find the one you are supposed to be with, nothing will hold you back. Lark is so feisty and I could relate to her so well. I am so glad I got to read their love story.
