For one charming playboy, getting cast on a Bachelor-esque reality TV show is the shock of a lifetime—until he finds love where he least expects it.

Gage Barrett’s reputation as a ladies’ man has been greatly exaggerated, but none of that matters after a drunken bet lands him on Jilted, a reality TV show that matches runaway grooms with wannabe brides. Now he’s stuck at a Hawaiian resort with nineteen women competing to drag him back to the altar—and one contestant who’s even more miserable than he is. Gage has no idea how feisty, independent Ellie Wright wound up in the cast, but it’s obvious she hates his guts. And if there’s one thing Gage likes, it’s a challenge. . . .
Ellie can’t believe she let her best friend talk her into exchanging her dignity for a glorified bikini contest. Still, she could use the exposure—her business is struggling—and she’ll probably be one of the first to get eliminated anyway. But Gage isn’t the shallow jerk Ellie anticipated—and he’s in no rush to send her home. As stolen kisses turn into secret trysts, she finds herself losing track of what’s real and what’s for the camera. With the wedding finale looming, this runaway groom is tempting Ellie to start believing in storybook endings.

 Review
I have been dying to read this book since I read Ready to Run and it did not disappoint. Gage is one of Hollywood’s hottest actors who of course has a playboy reputation as the runaway groom. This makes him the perfect contestant for Jilted, the bachelor-esque show that ends not in a proposal but a wedding for the one who has left multiple women at the altar. Ellie goes on the show to promote her t-shirt company but of course the rules state no advertising is allowed. She intrigues Gage who is dealing with nineteen other women who are all over him trying to win his affection. It doesn’t take long for Gage and Ellie to strike up a friendship but with all the craziness in the house and Ellie wanting nothing more than to go home, things don’t look promising for these two.
Gage and Ellie may just be my favorite couple ever. They don’t have to try hard to connect. They are naturally comfortable and the setting they are in is anything but. The other women are super catty other than maybe Paisley who I will say is my favorite supporting character. I literally couldn’t put this book down and read it in a couple of hours. It was so good and I would recommend everyone read it. If you’ve never read Lauren Layne before, this is a good one to start with.

Cold As Ice, the first in an all-new romantic series of standalones from bestselling authors Piper Rayne is available NOW!

It may be Winter Games, but the bedroom games are about to begin…

Competing in South Korea on the world stage is hard enough.

Having to spend the entire press tour beforehand with a woman who hates me?

Karma really is a bitch.

While she’s spent the last four years loathing me, I’ve spent them ignoring the guilt that gnaws at my stomach.

All Mia Salter cares about is that I’m her brother’s ex-best friend and it’s her duty to hate me. The funny thing is, I barely noticed her back when she was trying to keep up with us on the slopes. Now, as both of us prepare to go for gold, I’m seeing her in a whole different light—and it involves a whole lotta different positions.

No one said the path to the Olympics would be easy.

Excerpt:

I turn my attention back to Candice. “So, are we celebrating something?” I ask.

“Great idea.” Candice raises her hand to flag down the waitress.

The red-haired waitress, Natalie, stops at the edge of our table, an array of empty hot chocolate mugs on her tray. “Hey Rogue,” she says and then looks across the booth from me. “Mia.” Her eyes widen and she does a double take at the both of us.

Yeah, you got it right. Grady Kale and Mia Salter are sitting at the same table together.

“What can I get you?” she grants Candice her undivided attention.

“I need a bottle of champagne.”

“I don’t drink champagne,” I mumble.

“Me either,” Mia murmurs.

Candice’s attention moves from me to Mia and then back to Natalie. “Well, I do. Just a glass then.”

“I’ll grab that for you now.” Her hand lands on the edge of the table, pausing for a second. “Rogue, do you want anything else?”

Mia scoffs, but when my gaze shoots in her direction, she pretends to concentrate on her Bloody Mary.

“Um…yeah, Nat, can you grab me an Amstel?”

Nat’s knuckles knock the wood table. “Sure thing.”

She’s a good distance away before Mia’s gaze stops following her. She has to know Nat, she’s the owner’s daughter and one of Mia’s biggest fans.

“Surprise, surprise, another female who caters to Grady.”

Candice ignores Mia’s snide comment. “What’s up with the Rogue thing?” she asks, sipping her mix drink.

Mia snickers, twirling her celery around in her drink. “That’s what they call him because he only cares about himself.” She looks across the table, daring me to argue with her.

“How’s that?” Candice asks, a little warily.

I bet she knows for sure now that having both of us as clients is a bad idea.

“My friends started calling me that when I was younger because of the tricks I’d do. I’d try stuff no one else would dare to.” My eyes bore over at Mia, but apparently her drink is still more interesting than me because she can’t meet my gaze. “I set myself apart.”

“More like you isolated yourself. I think your nickname should be changed to Ogre.” She laughs to herself, pulling the piece of celery from her drink, smiling to herself.

“Okay, you two. I know there’s history, but we have to remain professional,” Candice says.

“Ogre, huh? I don’t think you were staring at me yesterday like I was Shrek.”

Nat comes back, placing a glass of champagne in front of Candice and a beer down in front of me. I lift the bottle to my lips as Nat slides a plate of pickles, celery, olives and a pepperoni stick in front of Mia.

“Thanks, Nat.” She grabs the pepperoni stick and chomps down on it aggressively. “I love biting down on a good piece of meat.”

Nat glances to me and then hurries off to help some other customers. I wish I could go with her.

“There wouldn’t be a problem if you kept us in our assigned corners,” I say to Candice.

“Unfortunately, that’s not a possibility. Why do you think I’m celebrating?” She lifts her champagne.

Mia’s foot falls to the floor and she lets the celery plop back down into her glass then leans forward, fixing her eyes on Candice.

I swivel in my seat, giving Candice all my attention.

“What exactly are you celebrating?” I ask.

Candice’s smokey grey eyes move between the two of us and then she plasters on the fakest smile I’ve ever witnessed, and I’ve seen many. “You were both chosen to represent the snowboarding team on a press tour. Yay!”

Mia leans back in the booth, downing the rest of her Bloody Mary. “Not going to happen.”

Once again, Mia Salter and I see eye-to-eye about something.

Review

I am a huge fan of Piper Rayne so when I heard they were writing a new series I was stoked. Cold as Ice is a phenomenal start to this series about a group of snowboarders and their journey to the Winter Classics. It’s funny and romantic and the characters are so much fun and easy to relate to even with them being professional snowboarders.

Grady is sexy and I loved him a lot! Mia is such a strong female character and I want her to be my best friend. I loved these two together and I really enjoyed their story. As always the supporting characters were great as well and I can’t wait to read the next story in this series. I already know that I want to know as much as I can about these couples which is pretty much par for the course when it comes to Piper Rayne’s books.

Winter in Mississippi

So far this winter has been the weirdest we have seen in Mississippi in a while. Since the prompt for this month’s Blog All About It challenge is winter, I thought I would share what winter has been like the past couple of weeks.

Typically here in Mississippi, we don’t get a lot of snow. We normally get ice and when we do get anything it isn’t much and it is normally in March right before spring actually starts. When we do get anything, everyone freaks out and runs to the store for bread and water and it’s chaotic to say the least. Oh and everything pretty much shuts down since no one knows how to drive on a normal day let alone on an icy one.

On January 12th, we got a lot of ice that caused the roads to be extremely hazardous so naturally everyone freaked out. I didn’t leave my house that day. I didn’t want to chance wrecking even though I can drive pretty well in those conditions thanks to my dad teaching me how to properly drive on ice. This was the view from my front porch.

The following Tuesday we got hit again but this time it was 3 inches of snow. The roads were again pretty bad because part of them had never unfrozen and then everyone driving on them packed the snow down and caused ice. I took my daughter over to my parent’s house that day and let her play in the snow since we don’t have a yard.

To say she loved it would probably be an understatement. I had a hard time getting her to come back in even though she was obviously pretty cold. This is the first time in a while that we’ve had enough snow to play in and it stuck around for a couple of days since the temp. didn’t get above freezing.

I used to think that I hated winter and although I hate being cold, I rather enjoyed actually getting snow and going outside to play in it. I did not like the ice though. I ended up falling one morning on my way to the car and banged up my knee pretty good.

Do you like winter? How has yours been so far?

Deeper is a fantastic conclusion to the Deep Duet and it left me wanting more. There were times throughout this book that I wasn’t sure where the authors were going but overall it was fantastic writing and I didn’t want to put it down.
Diana and Rafe are trying to protect each other but they go about it in two very different ways. I was a little disappointed in the way Rafe acts when he finds out about a major lie. It was nothing like how you would expect him to react and it threw me off. I would still recommend this series.

Review
About That Kiss is book 5 in the Heartbreaker Bay series but it can be read as a standalone. Trust me though you will not want to miss a book in this series!
Kylie is a talented wood worker working for her friend Gib. She shared a very steamy kiss with Joe but he never called her after. She is torn between wanting to throttle him and wanting to seduce him whenever she sees him and she doesn’t really know what to do about it. Joe is ex-military and works upstairs from Kylie for a security firm. He doesn’t want a serious relationship and knows Kylie deserves that. When Kylie has a prized possession turn up missing followed by photos being sent to her of this, she turns to Joe for help. It doesn’t take long for one kiss to turn into two. As they get to know each other, will they be able to walk away?
I love the characters in this book so much! The chemistry between Kylie and Joe is hot and I loved watching them interact. Then there is Kylie’s dog, Vinnie, who was just so adorable and went everywhere with her. This book is a must read for anyone who likes romance.

What happens on the road stays on the road. Right? That is, until Jade Hollingsworth's first ever—and toe-curlingly awesome—one-night stand turns out to be Hunter Sparks, the contractor she hired via email to remodel the swimwear shop she bought sight-unseen in Shell Grove, South Carolina. A fresh start in a new place where no one knows her name means she can finally gain control over her life and find some inner peace.

Ha. Fat chance of that when Hunter informs her he can't take the job...then brazenly comes onto her. Seriously?

Hunter wants nothing more than to carry on their steamy affair, but has to keep it on the down low. If he helps Jade with her shop, he risks losing the biggest contract of his career, everything he's worked his whole life to achieve. The trouble is, he can't keep his hands off her...

Review

Jade has decided to uproot her life after her dad dies and move to South Carolina to open a swimsuit shop. She has never laid eyes on the town or the shop and hires a contractor via email to help her fix the place up and make it what she wants. On her way to her new life, she stops to stay the night at a hotel and ends up at the bar where she meets a stranger and has her first one night stand. It isn’t until later that she discovers her fling was actually with her new contractor. Their relationship takes an interesting, complicated turn all the while, her ex-stepmom is trying to create havoc.

Sweet Attraction is an intriguing read that was funny at times and steamy at others. There is witty banter which I love and it had me hooked until the very end. This is the first book I have read by Melanie Munton but it won’t be my last. I’d recommend this book if you like humor and romance with a realistic feel to it.

Add in major baby daddy drama and the whole situation is the worst idea EVER. But sometimes those bad ideas might just be the best ones.

Amazon US I Amazon UK I iBooks I Nook I Kobo

The Billionaire’s Unexpected Baby is the second book in the Winning the Billionaire series but can be read as a standalone. It’s a fake marriage romance that is well written.

Leah had her first one night stand and ended up pregnant. Her best friend, Kiersten, convinces her to have a little fun with Brooks before she has to get serious and be a parent. They have an instant attraction that could definitely go somewhere and a few weeks after they first meet, Brooks finds out about Leah’s pregnancy and offers to marry her to save her job. When the father of Leah’s baby finally gets in touch, it turns out he is Brooks’ nemesis. How long will this marriage of convenience last?

I felt that I could really relate to Leah since I have been in a similar situation. She feels obligated to at least let her baby’s father have a chance at being a dad and it’s a hard thing to deal with in all honesty. Brooks was so down on himself at times and I really wanted to yell at him to snap out of it. I felt really invested in this book and really enjoyed it. I can’t wait to read what Ms. Archer writes next.

Rating: 4 stars

Kira Archer resides in Pennsylvania with her husband, two kiddos, and far too many animals in the house. She tends to laugh at inappropriate moments and break all the rules she gives her kids (but only when they aren’t looking), and would rather be reading a book than doing almost anything else. Most of her non-writing hours are spent hanging with her family and running her kids around because they are busy and she’s the taxi driver. She loves her romances a little playful, a lot sexy, and always with a happily ever after. She also writes historical romances as Michelle McLean.

When Emery Andrews’s best friend, Desiree, moves away, falls in love, and
opens an inn all in one summer, she feels her absence like a missing limb.
Until she visits over the holidays and meets sinfully hot Dean Masters, who’s as easy on the eyes as he is to talk to. After returning home, what starts as a flurry of late-night flirtations quickly turns into a deep connection and unexpected friendship. Now, months later, Desiree offers Emery a job teaching yoga at the inn. Adventurous Emery jumps at the chance and heads for Wellfleet, Massachusetts, to reunite with her BFF and her new close friend, Dean.

After months of sharing their lives, and their secrets, over video chats and phone calls, Dean’s ready to move things to the next level. The fact that
Emery seems oblivious to the sparks between them and has recently put her foot down about dating friends just means he’ll have to bide his time.
When Emery finds a naked man in her kitchen the first morning she’s
there, Dean doesn’t hesitate to move her into his guest room. Maybe now Emery will see what’s right before her eyes–although that guy she’s got a date with might be a problem.

 Review
Bayside Passions is an excellent friends to lovers story. Emery’s best friend, Desiree moved away and fell in love. On a trip to visit her, Emery meets Dean and they instantly connect. They spend the next few months getting to know each other and develop a long distance friendship. When Desiree offers Emery a job at the inn she owns, Emery is ecstatic to be close to her two friends. Dean wants more than just a friendship with Emery and he will have to convince her that being more than friends will be even better.
I really enjoyed this story and loved that Dean was whole-heartedly pursuing Emery. I loved getting glimpses of Desiree and Rick in this story as well. Melissa Foster does an excellent job once again of creating characters you will love and that feel like they could be your best friends. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series!
